What happened to the America I grew up in, that we have a spokesman for the NSA announcing "we have adopted a policy that we will not try to influence the outcome of the upcoming Iraqi election by covertly helping individual candidates for office."
OK, I know it's always been like this....
But, y'know, in this case, if the US doesn't influence those elections somehow, the terrorsts actually will have won -- Iraq seems very likely to move toward theocracy if there's a fair election.
And if we rig the elections, of course, in another sense, we also lose.
Bleh.
